Scandium Canada, a Québec-based company specializing in strategic metals and gold projects, has announced its voluntary delisting from the US OTCQB equity market, effective March 1, 2025. This decision marks a strategic pivot as the company reallocates resources to establish a new division focused on commercializing its patent-pending aluminium-scandium powders.

The move follows a thorough evaluation of Scandium Canada’s dual listings on the TSX Venture Exchange and OTCQB. The company determined that the costs associated with maintaining both listings outweighed the benefits at this stage. Savings from the delisting will be reinvested into the development of the new aluminium-scandium division, first unveiled in November 2024.

New Division to Drive Aluminium-Scandium Innovation

Scandium Canada’s upcoming division is dedicated to advancing aluminium-scandium technologies and accelerating their adoption across key industries. Led by Chief Science Officer Dr. Luc Duchesne, the division will focus on pre-commercializing two proprietary aluminium-scandium powders while exploring additional alloys to meet end-user needs. The company aims to position its enhanced alloy as a superior alternative to standard 7075 alloys, which are widely used in aerospace, automotive, and military applications.

The division will also oversee efforts to engage with industry stakeholders and showcase Scandium Canada’s innovations at major events. One such opportunity is the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention in Toronto from March 2–5, 2025. This globally recognized event attracts up to 30,000 attendees from over 130 countries and serves as a hub for networking, education, and investment opportunities.

Progress Towards Commercialization

Scandium Canada is leveraging its alloy development subsidiary alongside its Crater Lake project in Québec to address growing demand for lightweight, sustainable, high-performance materials. A recent milestone saw the successful 3D printing of test coupons using its aluminium-scandium powders at a research facility in Ontario. The company plans to evaluate the mechanical properties of these coupons — including heat-tempered subsamples — within the next two months.

Once testing is complete, Scandium Canada will target industrial sectors with short adoption cycles and urgent needs for advanced materials. Marketing efforts will focus on industries such as aerospace and automotive that prioritize innovation and sustainability.

Strategic Focus on Growth

With a market capitalization of C$6.3 million ($7 million), Scandium Canada’s streamlined approach reflects its commitment to advancing cutting-edge material solutions while optimizing operational efficiency. By exiting the OTCQB market and focusing on its aluminium-scandium division, the company is positioning itself as a leader in next-generation alloys poised to transform multiple industries.
